4 Countries Where Bitcoin Search Hit ATH this Year

According to Google Trends, the interest in BTC is continuing to grow. There are 4 countries where the Bitcoin search hit its All-Time High.

While Bitcoin price is crossing ATH after ATH, the first digital currency popularity around the world is skyrocketing too. Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Nigeria are beating all the records in Bitcoin search. Besides, the trading BTC volumes from these populations have increased too.

The following countries also showed that their interest is not limited to just typing “Bitcoin” in Google search. Peer-to-peer trading data revealed that citizens from these countries started to invest more funds into crypto assets.

Bitcoin in Africa

But we don't stop here. Nigeria reportedly became the world`s second-largest Bitcoin P2P market. Local people use the most advanced digital currency as an electronic peer-to-peer cash system - the originally intended goal by the BTC creator Satoshi Nakamoto.

The fact that Nigeria still didn't adopt PayPal and other payment options force locals to turn to employ crypto as cheap and fast transactions.

Bitcoin in South America

Besides the African continent, Bitcoin has gained a high popularity boost in few South American countries, including Chile, Colombia, and Argentina.

LocalBitcoins` trading volumes in Colombia have risen to the second-highest level just in the first week of 2021.

How to explain such extreme growth in Bitcoin interest?

No doubt the bullish prices are not the only reason. The coronavirus pandemic crisis also contributed to the expanding Bitcoin community. In addition, the "Colombia’s femicide" - the female murders across the country and protests from rural communities against them facilitated Bitcoin acceptance.

BTC Trading Volumes Record in Chile

Chile achieved the new All-Time high in Bitcoin P2P trading volume of 800 million pesos in the first week of January. The country also struggles with the most severe financial crisis of the coronavirus pandemic. According to the central bank`s 2020 report, Chile is going to end this year with the worst GDP in 35 years.

However, Foreign Minister Andres Allamand recently commented on the situation in the country, saying Chile has “macroeconomic and fiscal soundness” to partially recover in 2021.
